CARDIFF AND DISTRICT SNOOKER LEAGUE RULES

    CHANGES TO THE NEW SEASON.

Teams and clubs will be permitted to play on both TUESDAY and THURSDAY. Players will be declared at the start of the season (squad lists) and then can be added to in the usual way, during the season via contacting the Match Sec. before 7.30pm on the match night.

The aim of this exercise is that it will possibly increase the number of teams on both nights, and in doing so, achieves the league's aim of promoting the play of snooker.

Potters Bar and Savoy have already expressed an interest in having sides playing in both the Tuesday Division, and one of the Thursday Divisions.

Consequently, the Tuesday League may have more teams than the oft-criticised number of seven from last year.

PLEASE NOTE:

A player may play for one club on both nights.

A player may play for one club on Tuesday night, and another club on a Thursday night.

Players may not transfer between teams on a given night, except in accordance with the existing rule of playing three times for a team in a higher division.

In accordance with the existing rules, players could not join other sides in the latter stages of the league season, to assist a side to win a division.
CHANGES FOR 2008-09 ARE IN RED

  A. Matches to commence no later than 7.30pm and play must be continuous.

  B. Five individual frames to be played - no player may play twice.

  C. If there is only one player present from either team by 7.30pm, then the opposing team can insist the match starts with that player present.

  D. If play has not started by 7.45pm then the team at fault will lose one frame and subsequently one frame every 15 mins.

  E. Home and away captains must write down their teams in playing order first and then both lists are matched together to see who plays each other in that order.

  F. It is the responsibility of BOTH TEAMS to inform the match secretary Kevin Brown (Tuesday League) or Neil Fairbrother (Thursday League) of the result. Results must be be in by 9.00am the following Saturday, failure to do so will cost you all the points you earned.

  H. The " Miss" rule must be applied in all matches and it is up to the referee to be consistent in his / her interpretation to promote fair play to both players.

    Postponement of League Matches

1 Due to the fact that teams can register as many players as possible, postponement at very short notice is not allowed. Any offending team will be fined 6pts.

2 Any team committing this offence more than twice in a season will be expelled from the league and will not be allowed to compete the following season or their registered players.
Also all players concerned will not be allowed to play for anyone else during the current season. So even if you only have one player available it would be in your teams best interest to attend the match and forefeit any frames left over.

Exceptional circumstances will be left up to the committee`s discretion.

3 Matches may now only be postponed through the match sec. giving at least 14 days in advance of the match in question. A team can only postpone a match if their opponents can mutually agree on that match being played within a calendar week of the original match date.

    Registration of Players

1 Any team may register a player on the night as long as they inform the relevant Match secretary (Kevin Brown or Neil Fairbrother) before 7.30pm. Closing date for registering a new player is the 6th match from the end of their divisional season.

2 Any team playing a non-registered player/s will result in that team losing all pts scored and will also be fined 6pts. Results will be rectified by the match sec in accordance with the 2008 AGM ruling

Players may transfer from one team to another within the same division only ONCE during the 1st 6 matches of the season. The Match Sec. must be informed before he/she plays.

A player can only play twice for another team from the same club who are in a higher / another division. Once he/she has played 3 times they cannot go back to their original team till the following season. If they have entered any comps in a different division or league then they must forfeit.

    Conduct

1 Any registered team or player whose behaviour is prejudicial to the interest of the CDSA shall under the discretion of the committee be suspended from all matches for the rest of the current season and their acceptance to the league for the following two seasons be refused.
