31/08/10...Just a quick flag up for a
new project, snookerwiki.org. snookerwiki.org is a collaborative
project designed to bring together all aspects of
Snooker and create an online reference so that
anyone who is interested in the great game can
participate and collaborate together. The mission
is to create a community where snooker players
can easily contact other players, coaches and
clubs. With the Wiki, Articles, Forums, Blogs and
Snooker directory Listings they hope to become
the complete snooker reference hub for UK
leagues, tournaments and general snooker
information.
Currently they are looking for Members to start
creating and editing the Wiki, Bloggers, Forum
Moderators and Site Editors. I would also suggest
that this is a reasonable way of getting
information about your club or team on the web if
you don't have a website.

Libs 'C'

24/07/10...If you want to
discuss the changes below then please join the
league discussion forum for free. Last year we managed to
maintain records of player wins in the Tuesday
League through the forum, and Dan is keen for the
same to be done on a Thursday and he will be
contacting all teams soon to try and get a forum
contact for each of you.
24/07/10...At the AGM itself the
only real topic of debate was how to encourage
more teams to enter the league. As a result it
was agreed and the league secretary announced
that teams and players could register for both a
Tuesday and a Thursday. Full details of this rule
change are given below. The only other change was
the resignation of Neil Fairbrother as Thursday
League secretary. The Chairman thanked Neil for
his hard work. Dan Peacey from the University was
voted in as his replacement. Dan can be contacted
at danielpeacey1980@googlemail.com.
Registration for 2010/11 is now open and please
send completed registration forms to Spencer
Symmons. Payment will be expected in August -
details to follow.
CHANGES TO THE NEW SEASON.
Teams and clubs will be permitted to play on both
TUESDAY and THURSDAY. Players will be declared at
the start of the season (squad lists) and then
can be added to in the usual way, during the
season via contacting the Match Sec. before
7.30pm on the match night.
The aim of this exercise is that it will possibly
increase the number of teams on both nights, and
in doing so, achieves the league's aim of
promoting the play of snooker.
Potters Bar and Savoy have already expressed an
interest in having sides playing in both the
Tuesday Division, and one of the Thursday
Divisions.
Consequently, the Tuesday League may have more
teams than the oft-criticised number of seven
from last year.
PLEASE NOTE:
A player may play for one club on both nights.
A player may play for one club on Tuesday night,
and another club on a Thursday night.
Players may not transfer between teams on a given
night, except in accordance with the existing
rule of playing three times for a team in a
higher division.
In accordance with the existing rules, players
could not join other sides in the latter stages
of the league season, to assist a side to win a
division.

presentation night and AGM are now online here
19/06/10...Congratulations to
Neil Tomkins who won his third Cardiff Open Singles
title this week, beating Spencer Symmons
4-3 in the final. In a final that failed to
live up to its billing, both players struggled
for form. Tomkins took a 2-0 lead before Symmons
fought back to lead 3-2. Symmons had a half
chance to win it 4-2 in the 6th frame but Tomkins
won it on the pink to set up a decider. In the 7th and deciding
frame, Tomkins went 40 odd up with a 29
break (high highest of the match) and although
Symmons came back to within 20 he sealed a 4-3
win on the colours.
12/06/10...Congratulations
to Huw Carpenter who has
achieved the phenomenal feat of winning 3 out of
this year's 4 singles and doubles titles (he also
reached the semi-finals of the Open). He began
the streak last week as he and doubles partner Layton
Brooks beat Dennis McNamara and Frank
Thomas in the Handicap Pairs final 3-2, decided on the
final pink. He and Layton then became the first
pairing to win two doubles titles since 2004 with
a 3-1 win over Rhys Carpenter and Gerwyn Davies
in the Open Pairs. Carpenter completed his
hat-trick by beating Clive Hudd in Thursday's Cardiff
Handiap final, coming back from both 1-0 and 2-1
down to win 3-2.
