Cardiff University won the 2011 Thursday League Cup with a final frame
decider against Senghenydd, but not without controversy. Due to a number of
unavailable players, captain Dan Peacey called up two University Tuesday League
regulars who both won their frames including Ben Chung who beat Tony Palkowski in
the decider. The University went 2-0 up but Senghenydd clawed it back to 2-2 to
set up the tense decider, which Chung won on the pink.
This year's Thursday Knockout was a straight
knockout, based on the same rules as a normal league match. First to
three frames, and if you win 3-0 or 3-1 the
remaining frames are optional.
